Our executive team

Mr. Linville has served as a member of our board of directors since 2020. Since 2019, Mr. Linville has served as a Senior Advisor at General Atlantic LLC, a global growth equity firm. He previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Global Cards and Consumer Services at Citigroup Inc., a publicly traded global financial services institution, from 2010 to 2018. Mr. Linville served as President and CEO of Consumer Services at American Express Co from 2006-2010, prior to which he held various executive roles in American Express International, Global Commercial Service, Service Delivery, and Consumer Services from 1989-2006. Mr. Linville holds a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from the College of Medicine at Drexel University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Lafayette College.

Mike Milotich was appointed as Marqeta’s Chief Executive Officer and Director on September 8, 2025. Prior to his appointment as CEO, Mike served as interim CEO and CFO from February 2025 to September 2025, and as CFO from February 2022 to February 2025. As CFO, Mike led the financial planning, corporate development, accounting, settlement and investor relations functions at the company. Prior to joining Marqeta, Mike was the Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance and Investor Relations at Visa, responsible for understanding Visa’s business and financial performance, managing the corporate outlook, evaluating M&A opportunities and communicating with the global investor community.

Prior to Visa, Mike worked at PayPal and American Express in business analysis roles supporting new product launches, product portfolio strategy, partner pricing and cost optimization. Mike holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a MBA from New York University. Mike lives in the Bay Area and enjoys spending time with family and friends, loves a great meal and is an avid sports fan.

Jason Gardner is the Founder of Marqeta, Inc. and served as CEO from 2010-2023, leading the company through its IPO on the NASDAQ in June 2021 before transitioning into the Executive Chairman role from January 2023 – June 2024. Mr. Gardner holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Arizona State University. In his role as Chairperson of the Payments Innovation Committee, starting June 2024, Jason guides the committee in oversight of Marqeta's approach to innovation and technology.

 

Marqeta is Jason’s third company. He co-founded PropertyBridge, which was acquired by MoneyGram International (MGI) in 2007. Before PropertyBridge, he founded Vertical Think, an IT management company that worked with start-ups and larger organizations.

 

Ms. Atkinson has served as a member of our board of directors since 2023. Ms. Atkinson served as Executive Vice President and Special Advisor People & Culture of Hasbro, Inc., a publicly traded play and entertainment company, from 2024 to 2025, and previously served as Hasbro’s Chief People Officer from 2022 to 2024 and Executive Vice President of Human Resources from 2021 to 2022. From 2019 to 2021, Ms. Atkinson served as Senior Vice President of Global HR Services for Dell Technologies, Inc., a publicly traded information technology company. Prior to that, she served in various positions of responsibility at Dell Technologies in the Human Resources, Customer Experience, and Strategy functions since 1999. Ms. Atkinson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Fisk University and a Master of Business Administration in Organizational Management from Trevecca Nazarene University.

Mr. Chokshi has served as a member of our board of directors since 2024. Mr. Chokshi has served as Senior Advisor of Bill Technologies, Inc. dba Bilt Rewards since it acquired Rotomaire, Inc., dba Banyan in 2025, prior to which he served as President of Banyan from 2024-2025. Mr. Chokshi has also served as a Senior Advisor at Long Ridge Equity Partners since 2024. Mr. Chokshi previously served as Global Head of Business Development and Strategy for Personal Banking and Wealth at Citigroup Inc. from 2018 to 2023. Prior to Citigroup, he served as Head of National Accounts at Visa, a publicly traded financial technology company, from 2015 to 2018. Prior to joining Visa, Mr. Chokshi served in various leadership roles at American Express Company, a publicly traded multinational financial services corporation, from 2001 to 2015. Mr. Chokshi holds a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Economics, both from the University of Pennsylvania.

Ms. Cummings has served as a member of our board of directors since 2021. From 2018 to 2020, Ms. Cummings served as Executive Vice President, Head of Compliance Strategy & Operations at Wells Fargo Bank N.A., a publicly traded global financial services company. Previously, from 2012 to 2018, Ms. Cummings served as Senior Vice President and Senior Supervisory Officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. She has also served as a Senior Advisor to Boston Consulting Group since 2023. Ms. Cummings holds a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of Business and a Master of Arts in International Studies from the Lauder Institute of the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Minnesota.

Mr. Graf has served as a member of our board of directors since 2024. Mr. Graf served as Chief Financial Officer of Discover Financial Services, a publicly traded financial services company, from 2011 to 2019 and as its Chief Accounting Officer from 2011-2012. He has served on the board of directors of Harmony Biosciences Holdings, Inc., a publicly traded commercial- stage pharmaceutical company since 2020, and Signet Jewelers Limited, a publicly traded retail jeweler, since 2017. Mr. Graf holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Ms. Paul has served as a member of our board of directors since April 2025. Ms. Paul served as the Chief Financial Officer of Lyft, Inc., a publicly traded peer-to-peer marketplace for on-demand ridesharing, from 2022 to 2023. From 2019 to 2021, Ms. Paul served as the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance of Amazon Studios, a division of Amazon.com, a publicly traded e-commerce company. From 2013 to 2019, Ms. Paul served as Chief Financial Officer of Hulu, LLC, a streaming service company. She previously served in various senior positions, including as Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy, Business Development and Technology of The Walt Disney Company, a publicly traded global entertainment company, from 1994 to 2013. Ms. Paul currently serves on the board of directors of Sabre Corporation, a global travel technology company. Ms. Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History from Stanford University and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

Mr. Prasad has served as a member of our board of directors since 2022. He has served as a Senior Business Advisor for McKinsey & Company during 2025 and as the CEO and Co Founder of Big Basin Labs since 2024. From 2021 to 2023, Mr. Prasad served as Head of Product at Next Door Holdings, Inc., a publicly traded internet-related services company. He previously served as Vice President of Product for LinkedIn, a networking-focused social media platform and subsidiary of Microsoft Corporation, from 2018 to 2021. Mr. Prasad holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Computational Mathematics from Michigan State University and a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Michigan.

Ms. Thomas has served on our board of directors since April 2025. Since 2021, Ms. Thomas has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Secureworks Corp, a global cybersecurity company acquired by Sophos, Inc. in 2025. From 2020 to 2023, Ms. Thomas served as President of Secureworks, as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Chief Product Officer from 2018 to 2020, and as Vice President, Strategic & Financial Planning from 2015 to 2018. Ms. Thomas has served as a member of the board of directors of Secureworks since 2021, and as a member of the board of directors of IonQ, Inc., publicly traded quantum computing and networking company, since 2022. Ms. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia, and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of South Carolina.
